We arrived in Honolulu late in the evening and my friend from the Navy picks us up and drives us to our hotel in Waikiki Beach. We get there, check-in and get to our room. We immediately was disappointed because the room smelled stale and our view was a parking garage. The look on our faces and reaction was, "oh no!" We didn't come all to Hawaii to look at a parking garage. So we go down stairs and complain about the situation and the lady at the front desk was nice to accommodate us with a new room the next day. She told us to make sure we packed our belongings and they will transfer them to a new room. We were OK with it and proceeded to head out to see what Waikiki Beach area had to offer.
Our hotel was in located next to restaruants, bars, shops, and clubs. My Navy friend and his friends took us out to a club called Play Bar located right across the street from our hotel. The club had drink specials everyday and the night we went, the drinks were one dollar. Let's say there were many shots and drinks that night. There was dancing, drinking, and meeting new people. (Tip: Cover charge can range from $5 to $10 and not all drinks are $1)
This trip ended up being more than just a trip to Hawaii. It was building and rebuilding relationships, enjoying people and just being in the present and the surroundings of Hawaii.
